CEO

Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center (MSLCC) provides excellent nursing care delivered by a highly qualified team. We are regularly given excellent survey results from the State Health Department to prove this! MSLCC offers a variety of continuing education programs and encourages further training in geriatric nursing. To assure that our residents have continuity of care, we assign primary nurses and CNAs to each unit.

Here you will find a generous amount of state of the art equipment allowing our nursing staff to give comprehensive care to all residents. Nursing interventions are provided for complex and medically unstable conditions. Residents are provided loving care to meet their personal needs and are encouraged to maintain their independence.

Some of our services include: IV therapy, feeding tubes, preventive care, and hospice and dialysis coordination. Transportation is provided to all residents for medical, vision and dental visits. Our transportation staff has completed a certification course in driver safety. A certified nursing assistant will accompany residents to their appointment when a family member is unavailable.

There are approximately 35-40 family practice and internal medicine physicians from the two local hospitals who are the primary physicians for our residents. Residents may still see their personal physician as long as he/she completes the federally required visits at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center. There are physicians on call 24-hours a day/7 days a week at the clinics so in an emergency situation a physician may be reached at all times.

A local eye doctor visits residents at the Care Center twice a year. We are fortunate to have several local physicians perform clinical assessments at our Care Center. An ophthalmologist visits residents four times a year. In addition, the community’s podiatrists make monthly visits.

Dr. Bruce Hetland of Mid Dakota Clinic is our medical director. Dr. Hetland is a Certified Medical Director and is responsible for implementation of resident care policies, coordination of quality medical care and for the ethical and professional practices of our professional staff. He also attends our quarterly quality improvement committee meetings.

Our famly nurse practitioners work closely with Mid Dakota Clinic and Medcenter One Health Systems’ physicians to provide quality medical care to our residents. Family nurse practitioners make rounds twice a week at MSLCC and are available for consultation Monday through Friday.
